Ekiben, or “Railway bento” are a particular type of bento that I really hadn’t heard of until I went to Japan the first time. Ekiben are simply bento served at train stations and on trains.

Homemade miso decanting time!
Asagohan nabemono (Japanese style breakfast hotpot)
Sometimes I make a nabemono, or Japanese-style hotpot, for breakfast. This is a simple, rustic nabemono that I made to use up some old cabbage and burdock root (gobo).
